I can’t express how excited I am to start talking about decorating for Christmas! I Love Christmas, it is absolutely my favorite holiday, and not just for the decorations and gifts. Christmas for me is not only the decorations (Even though I absolutely LOVE decorating) but I know that it brings my family and friends together and share warm conversations. I love it! So I have so many upcoming decorating ideas to show everyone, here is one on simple (and very affordable!) way to decorate your front door garland.
I used Tulle for the mesh (on sale for $.88 a yard!) And its easier to work with (in my opinion) than deco mesh.
My garland is 18 feet, so I used 7 yards (3 feet is a yard) a little extra just to cover the “swaging side to side” LOL
I used colors that matches out front porch rug and cushions. and then I added a Pop color (Red with a little White)
I also used about 35 plastic balls, in various sizes.
The large balls (I found at Dollar Tree for $1! better than paying $8 in other stores) were Gold and would not match so I “ReGlittered” them (Click here to see how to “Glitter those Balls”) LOL
And then I used some old deco mesh ribbon
So here is what you will need to do:
First, once you get your garland up, find the middle of the mesh, and start from the top middle of the garland. Go from side to side in a zigzag style.
You can use branches to fold over to hold the mesh in its place
You can “Poof” the mesh to make it cover up the branch
Next, repeat and do with another color of mesh, I used green for the second color.
Next add the ribbons, I only used 1 ribbon, but you can honestly use more if you want. I used the red ribbon for my pop color.
Now, for your balls start with the large balls. Cut Pipe Cleaners and use to hold the balls in place (especially from wind and weather)
Now add in your larger sized balls to cover any big spots or where you can see the bent branches that are fold to hold the mesh
when tying them, connect them to where the “hanger” is actually not visible, so you only see the sides and bottom of the ball.
Then go through and add in the other sized balls.
All together with the mesh and new balls I spent around $20. Not bad at all and it looks way better and like it cost way more too!
What do you think? How do you decorate your garland? Let me know.
