We all know what Paper mache is and made of. Have you ever thought about taking it to the next level, but easier? (and prettier in my opinion) Well here are easter eggs that are Cheap (very cheap like under $5), easy, and quick to make.
All you need are a few things and you will have these beautiful eggs ready for display before easter. Trust me, I know, I made mine this week a day before I had guests and a week before Easter. (last minute guests, I mean how can I be a guy version of Martha Stewart without Easter decorations?)
All you need:
- Balloons ( I used assorted sizes, mainly 12″, 7″, and water balloons)
- liquid starch
- flour
- embroidery floss
Mix 1/2 cup flour to every cup of liquid starch. Dip the embroidery floss in the mixture and spin around balloon in different directions. I used 3 bundles of embroidery floss for the large balloon, 2 for the medium and 1 for the water balloon. I took a different color bundle and cut into thirds and wrapped the balloon to create “Stripes”. I hung them overnight to dry and then popped the balloons and removed the balloon particles from inside.
This project took maybe 45 mins to do, But I did about 12 balloons. It is a little messy, I put a drop cloth down in my garage to do it.
Tip Alert: When your using the thread dipped into the mixture, make sure to squeeze out excess mixture, because if they are soaking when they go onto the balloon, when they dry, they will have a white residue and flakes beside the thread.
