Ok So I’ll admit it, I’m not the Biggest fan of Halloween. I know! So many people love it, they love to dress up, decorate, and really get into the holiday, including Martha! She’s a HUGE lover of Halloween. I remember when I was a kid, I never really liked to dress up for it either. My grandmother used to mail me these big boxes filled with holiday decorations, and I LOVED getting those boxes from her so much that decorating whatever she sent me was fun. When she stopped sending those boxes, I stopped decorating (well for Halloween at least). The only thing I loved about Halloween by the time I was in my teens, was the day after it was over, that meant I could start planning my Christmas decor! LOL!
This year I have started to get into the holiday a little more. I’m not really a scary, gruesome type person, so my Halloween decor is a little more nice & simple.
Anyway, On to my craft LOL. I was in Target today and found a battery lit lantern for our porch on clearance with all the other garden/outdoors items. Then I skipped on over to the clearance school supplies (I have a HUGE obsession with school supplies, I have no idea why!). I set my phone down on the cart and set a plastic poly folder on top (not paying attention, just excited they were so cheap) while sorting through all the CHAOTIC mess trying to get some more folders and my phone lit up, and I promise people could probably see the light bulb above my head. The folders were transparent enough for light to shine through, So I could insert them into all my lanterns for different colors.
So I really got excited and got about 20 folders in different colors and started thinking about all the holidays I could use each color for. I got a few black ones incase I wanted to put our initials, or sayings like “trick or treat” for Halloween or “Ho Ho Ho” for Christmas. When I starting cutting the letters I thought, Hmm how cute would it be to do different pumpkin faces. I have to admit I LOVE these now, I want my whole walkway traced with these now! Here’s how I made my first one.
-Outdoor Battery operated Lantern
-Plastic Poly Folders (I used 2 orange folders & 1 black)
-Hot Glue or weather proof tape
First, cut the inside pockets out (don’t trash them, they can be use for other parts)
Next, Cut them to size to cover each glass pane.
Now, before you glue (or tape) them to the glass, set them down to use to create your sayings, When I started doing this, I thought about Pumpkin faces I thought were cute and funny. So I cut out the face that I make very often. LOL! You can make them for all sides, I just made one to show you what it looked like.
Now, glue or tape them to each side and your ready to go.
Here is a simple, cute, cheap way to do those classic pumpkin faces, without all the pumpkin-carving-mess & hassle of a clean up.
They are just as cute Indoors as they are Out.
P.S. I had a few extra battery operated candles, so I added a couple more to make it glow brighter
So now that I’m started to like Halloween a little more this year, I would love to hear some of the crafts or decor you have made or ideas you have!
