I LOVEEEEEE Pizza, I honestly cant express how much I love pizza! When I started eating healthier, I knew that this was one food that would be my unhealthy splurge. I knew I could change up some of the ingredients to make it a little healthier (whole grain, thin crust, more veggies etc.) but I never dreamed of making it WAYYY healthier than one delivered to me. This Low Carb pizza crust and all natural organic sauce is easy, healthy, and SUPER GOOD!
Heres what you need for the crust:
1/2 head cauliflower (grated)
1 large egg
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp fresh oregano
First, preheat oven to 450. Next, cut half of the Cauliflower head, grate in a food processor.
Once grated, (should be about 2 cups) place in a microwave safe bowl, cook in microwave about 8 mins, or until softened & heated thoroughly, let cool for about 10 mins, mix in shredded cheese, egg, oregano, & garlic powder. Once mixed, spread out (this crust can be very sticky, so you may need to use parchment paper)
Bake crust for 10-15 mins, or until gold brown around the edges
Set aside to cool.
Now, heres what you need for the homemade pizza sauce
About 4-5 plum tomatoes (cut into 1/8s)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
3 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp fresh basil
1/2 tsp honey, or stevia
1 tsp fresh basil
First, take the cut tomatoes, olive oil, basil, and minced garlic and cook until tomatoes are cooked through(8-10 mins).
Once tomatoes are cooked, place into a food processor and blend until tomatoes are blended into a sauce, once blended, place back into cooking pot. Add remaining ingredients & let simmer 10-15 mins.
Now, spread sauce onto cauliflower crust and add shredded cheese, and your favorite toppings.
Bake until cheese is melted.
Let cool then cut and serve. This pizza is a little softer than regular pizza crust, so its a little flimsy to hold.
Let me know what you think of this recipe.
